Wal-Mart announced that sometime in 2008, it will begin offering customers a new discount item: Wal-Mart's own brand of wine.
The world's largest retail chain is rumored to be teaming up with Ernest & Julio Gallo Winery of California to produce the spirits at an affordable
price - in the $2 to $5 range.
Wine connoisseurs may not be inclined to put a bottle of the Wal-Mart brand into their shopping carts but, 'There is a market for inexpensive
wine.' said Kathy Micken, professor of marketing at University of Arkansas, Bentonville. 'However, branding will be very important.'
Customer surveys were conducted to determine the most attractive name for the Wal-Mart wine brand.
The top surveyed names in order of popularity were:
10. Chateau Traileur Parc
9. White Trashfindel
8. Big Red Gulp
7. World Championship Riesling
6. NASCARbernet
5. Chef Boyardeaux
4. Peanut Noir
3. I Can't Believe it's not Vinegar
2. Grape Expectations

Squirrels are the architects of forests, the planters of trees, nature's own acrobats and show a zest for life that can inspire us. Every day should be National Squirrel Appreciation Day!

I'd vote for Chef Boyardeaux!
Couple of weeks ago Final Jeopardy had a "chefs" category -- the person was known as the "King of Chefs & Chef of Kings...."
Of course, the only "French Chef" I could think of was Julia Child -- wrong gender as well as wrong age!
I probably would have WAG'd Who Is Boiardi? He was a real person, and although not the Chef of Kings, he did cater Woodrow Wilson's wedding!

White Trash wine already exists! I saw it for the first time in the store a few months ago. Trader Joes has some decent wines bottled by Charles Shaw Wine. They are affectionately known as "Two Buck Chuck."
It's even won a few awards:

At the 28th Annual International Eastern Wine Competition, Shaw's 2002 Shiraz received the double gold medal, besting the roughly 2,300 other wines in the competition.
Shaw's 2005 California chardonnay was judged Best Chardonnay from California at the Commercial Wine Competition of the 2007 California Exposition and State Fair. The chardonnay received 98 points, a double gold, with accolades of Best of California and Best of Class.
