A few oldies around here may remember her songs from the 50's. She was 90.

I mainly associate her with the original hit version (before my time) of "You Belong To Me," before the excellent doo wop version by The Duprees.

90!

Who woulda thunk?

"Shrimp Boats" is a fifties non-rock classic.

Is Jonathan Schwartz still around. WoW! I used to listen to him when he was on WNEW-FM in NY along with Scott Muni and Alison Steele way back in the late 60's to early 70's.

I did not, nor have ever owned a copy of her biography. The curse is broken!

I always think of Dream (with the Pied Pipers).
Spoiler
I'm darned good and ready.

Dream is a wonderful song. Up until this thread, I couldn't have told you that Jo Stafford was the artist.

I liked it when she sang Spiders and Snakes.

Oh, that was Jim Stafford.

Never mind.

He is the only DJ on XM's "high Standards" station. Poor man never gets to sleep. Of course he is live daily around the noon hour pdt and 3 pm edt.

A TLAF favorite.

In the late 1950s, TLAF & a couple of her sisters were in Center City Philadelphia doing some shopping. A local DJ was doing a live on-air remote.

TLAF came back with a 45 of Jo Stafford singing Bells Are Ringing.

Shrimp Boats was a favorite of mine. My cousins and I used to jump up and down on my Aunt Adeline's couch to it.

That and Hot Diggity Dog Diggity by Perry Como. We used to time the "OH! what you do to me!" in Hot Diggity to jump from the couch to the side chairs.

Shrimp Boats was a favorite of mine.
I wonder how many times Snooky Lansen and Giselle McKenzie sang that song on Your Hit Parade?
