YouTube should never be a category on this show, as it is proof what happens when you allow dumbasses to operate cameras and give them a place to post their mind-numbing tripe. 2008 albums doesn't look very promising either, since that probably doesn't include music from at least 20 years ago...

That's too long. How many more questions could they ask if they lowered the limit to about 15 nanoseconds, which is usually all that's needed to answer the first tier?

How in the hell can you NOT know this question? This was the easiest one in the whole damn stack, including the inane first tier questions! Please, please take away the silly clock. It's eating away at the minds of your "brilliant" contestants you bring on here, and that's slim pickins as it is. I'm just glad I don't have a time limit to come up with these witty, sarcastic replies, because I often have to take about 2 minutes to snap out of my stupor when I see some of the idiocy on display....

Do the contestants get to see this list on their screen for the rest of the game? Once Bill Nye--still best known as Bill Nye the Science Guy--was introduced as the ATE, how could studying this list (if the contestant had time to study) pick a topic to to use him on? Where's the science?

Actually, that nutrition question he got was the most scientifically-oriented, even though Bill said that wasn't his area of expertise.

I'd have needed to ATA the Film & Television question, then would have needed one or more lifelines on the 2008 Albums one. After that was OK.

First off, my 2 cents' worth on the changes:

1. I don't like the clock, but if it's going to be kept, then the contestant should have the option to interrupt Meredith and give the answer before letting her finish (as with the FF on PTBAM). If I were on the show, I'd do it in order to conserve time.

2. The ATE lifeline has some promise, although the Web call (compliments of Skype) has the typical jerkiness that makes it hard to watch and may cause some wasted time. At least there doesn't seem to be a time limit as there is for PAF.

3. The categories - may or may not be helpful but sometimes (as in the "beer question in the vegetable category") may not be. I know that when I saw the categories I was already figuring where I'd end up using lifelines.

Now on to the stack itself.

This is one of the places where I figured that I'd need to use a lifeline; no need to deliberate, just ATA as soon as I'm allowed to do so.

Again I wonder about the connectivity issue (I presume if there's a failure the question would be redone) and the quality of the video and sound.

So you get the additional (4th) lifeline after the $1K question rather than having to wait until the $25K.

OK, I'd have burned one lifeline to get to the $25K, but no idea as to how much time I'd have accumulated (another graphic that should be displayed for the benefit of the TV audience).

Even with the clock there were only 10 questions shown; part of that was due to the additional game-play explanations that Meredith did and the extra chat with the "expert", so perhaps over time the number of questions will increase.

One last thing - I noted that they showed the "on deck" contestant during Sally's run, which they haven't done before.

Well, beer is composed of hops along with barley and other grains, all of which are "vegetables" in the broadest sense of the term, so maybe that's why it was in this category.

But seriously, I would agree with you that this was not an appropriate question for the category. It will be interesting to see if the trend continues.

And here's where the unemployment thing showed up:

“In my mind, I said Robert Frost,” she said. “I was about 99 percent sure. I'm a little disappointed that I didn't trust what I knew. But overall it was amazing.”

With less of a need for money, I'll bet she'd have gone for it. Maybe more time to think about it and talk herself into it, too. I feel sorry for her and her family. Another $9K for sure and the free shot for an additional $25K would have been useful.

Time pressure may be more dramatic but is unlikely to result in better decisions, especially when a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity is ticking away.

I remember when I first came to the bored to read transcripts in case I ever got 'The Call' and was initially put off by MBFFB (which I think really stands for "My Best Friend Forever - Beyonce!") - after being on the bored for a while and getting a sense of the place - MBFFB seemed sort of like the Charlie McCarthy of the bored - so don't sweat it.

In fact I'm looking forward to MBFFB tearing me a huge new one when my episode airs and I will be biterly disappointed if s/he wusses out on me.

First off, my 2 cents' worth on the changes:

Once the last answer is revealed and the clock starts, the contestant can answer at any point or choose to go for a lifeline, whether or not Meredith is still reading the answers - they don't have to wait until she finishes. If the clock stops for the use of a lifeline, they cannot answer until the clock starts back up again, though.
