Walter Lindsey
Richmond, VA

Meredith compliments Walter's deep voice again. Walter says he feels like he's in an episode of "Beauty and the Beast," right now.

Meredith: Beauty and the Beast? Well, I don't know who I am, because you bring out the beast in me, honey!

Walter is a playwright and drama minister at his church. He also writes novels.

Meredith: What kind of stories?

Walter: Well, Stephen King writes ghost stories. I call mine "Holy Ghost" stories.

For pity's sake, Meredith, wipe the drool off your chin!

One and done with three lifelines. I can understand him not using the Double Dip if he had no clue.

Apples seem like a rather imprecise measuring stick for Smurfs. Are we talking big Red Delicious or little Crab Apples here? :?

I was in the audience for both of his segments and he was a real hit with the audience from my perspective. This turned out to be a quick google on smurf height with 3 apples coming up in the summary for several results. Unfortunatly he PAF didn't appear to be google ready which was too bad - everyone was pulling for him to go far.

The only one I felt comfortable in eliminating was mushrooms because I thought their homes were mushrooms, so having them 2x the size of their homes seemed wrong. Smurfs were never big at our house in its heyday even though we had the demographic fit. I did have a co-worker in the mid-to-late 80's who was from Belgium and we of course held him accountable for the Smurfs.

I also followed my own advice and didn't answer on the ATA because I didn't know - but the bored is right it does take some will-power not to guess (we did mention to our neighbors in the audience during the tapings that unless they really new - they should not answer on ATA so not to hurt the contestant)

BTW, Ogi - would you have known the answer?

I don't know if I'm hoping you would or would not have this bit of knowledge.

---Jay (Be afraid, be very afraid - new Smurf figures continue to appear every year: in fact, only in two years since 1969 (1991 and this year) have no new Smurfs entered the market - if you know how many years ago was the last year that no new Smurf figures were introduced - then you know my estimated number of days until my episode airs)
