I have a question. Let's say you want to use the PAF on this question. Do you have to read the question and the choices, or can you just say, "Google paneer"?

You can say "What is paneer?" (and then spell it). They frown upon telling the PAF to look something up, and especially mentioning a product like Google.

Thanks. I can understand not wanting to give free advertising to Google or any other product, but I thought it was legal for the PAF to use reference sources. I guess a lot of viewers perceive it as cheating even it is actually within the rules.

First ten look good. The space program and word origins might be problems. With proper lifeline usage, I might see the MDQ.

$16K: The name sounds like it would be bread, but I've never heard of paneer. Ask the audience. If nothing (pardon the pun) pans out, ask Ogi.

$50K: I can definitely eliminate chimp and cat. I would also Double Dip with tortoise and parrot.

Very nice. With over 100,000 still without power in our area the food pantries are getting quite a workout. My hat's off to those who do this kind of work.

Count me as one who would have crashed and burned on this question. First off, "paneer" sounds like "pan" or "pain", which mean "bread". Second I don't recall much cheese in Indian cooking.

I don't recall a cat being launched, either, so I would have gone with the Double Dip and guessed "cat" first, then "parrot".

Blame the French:

http://www.spacetoday.org/Astronauts/Animals/Dogs.html
Felix the Cat
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
France launched a black and white stray tomcat of the Paris streets on October 18, 1963, on Veronique AGI sounding rocket No. 47 from the Hammaguir test range in Algeria. Was it a male named Felix. Or a female named Felicette? Whichever, it was the first cat in space as the capsule in the rocket's nose cone separated at 120 miles altitude and descended by parachute. Electrodes in the cat's brain transmitted neurological impulses to a ground station. The cat was recovered. Another cat flight on October 24, 1963, failed and was not recovered. Flights were directed by France's Centre d'Enseignement et de Recherches de Medecine Aeronautique (CERMA).

If they launched one cat......why can't they launch them all?
I believe in the usefulness of useless information.

After that second cat failed to return, I imagine that the strays wised up and got harder to catch!
