I confess - I don't get this reference at all.

In a nutshell, Fodera was the second llama on PTBAM, after Robby Roseman gave us the term. Missed the $100 question on what Little Jack Horner pulled out of his pie. Choices were Ribbon, Plum, Blackbird, Little Jill Horner. He picked Blackbird. In later interviews, his mother told him that he had never liked nursery rhymes as a child. He did manage to pick up $16K in the subsequent Llamarama.

Yes, the clock actually hit 0 before he said the word "final". But that was apparently accepted because he was in the process of giving his response.

When Mere warned him about the clock after that, he seemed to be unaware of his tendency to drag out his answers. He could have used seeing a few more contestants from the green room, so that he could adjust his game plan better.

As I understand the time rule - clearly saying final before the time has expired is clean and clear-cut. But if you started you answer before your time has run out and as long as your answer doesn't include a pause then final or final answer can come after time has expired.

So saying 'D Elephant Final' all in phrase will be OK even if time runs out while saying Elephant, but 'D Elephant <pause> Final' would be a walk if the time ran while saying Elephant.

It would be interesting to see it pushed to the limit but I would guess that if it was somewhat ambigous that whatever way it went they may choose to reshoot that specific answer just so it is clear-cut for TV - once they reached a judgement call.

I used to be able to tell whose post I was reading just by seeing the avatar - not really looking at it but knowing the colors and shapes. Now, not so much.

That is the reason I thought christie posted something Marley did - because of the colorful beastmade avatar. I still can't tell at a glance if Marley or Bob###s posted something.

It takes more work now.

Who is them?

All of TPTB. And one of the reasons we use that abbreviation is because we really don't know who is in that group that make the important decisions for the show: Michael Davies and all the APs, but maybe other executives, sponsors...who knows?

But I do know that any direct contact between auditioners and TPTB is verboten, according to the official rules.
