How were the contestants chosen for this week? Anyone know? Was it a random draw from the audience? How did you get into the audience?

Is there some joke I don't recognize here, associated with the MM, or is this a serious question?

In case that was a serious question, refer back to this thread:

http://wwtbambored.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=36614

It was a Walk In And Win-style taping on October 18, limited to audience members with the proper affiliations (teachers, firefighters, military).

It was nice that they were able to get one contestant from Elsewhere on the show this week, even if Sheneka was far too nervous and cautious to do well.

Sheneka mentioned that her class just recently had to do a project or something about Columbus. So...I was waiting for her to mention two things in her deliberations, but she never did. In what year did Columbus sail the ocean blue? And if you remember how long a bicentennial is, in what year would the event in the question have taken place? That ought to have narrowed down her choices significantly.

I hope. :|

I don't get it. Does she believe in witches, and does she think they're a recent phenomenon?

Serious question. For some reason this is the MM that comes up as the default login when I visit this website with the Chrome browser.

Like Marley I'm mystified that she didn't start with 1492 and calculate forward, then realize that the other events were much later.

Sheneka's question about Solyndra apparently has been making the political talking point circuit.

The following report seems just a tad sarcastic about the show's impact, though.

http://www.theatlanticwire.com/politics ... one/54234/
Meredith Viera the host of Millionaire -- which is, in fact, a show that still airs -- asked:
That show's still on!?
Politico's Alexander Burns posted about it noting that buzzwords like "Solyndra" sometimes don't take hold with the public but this "would seem to suggest Solyndra's catching on at least a bit." Meanwhile, folks like the RNC and Fox Nation are celebrating (or at least, pointing out) on Twitter that their talking point has made it to the big leagues. Well, whatever league old daytime game shows are in. "Solyndra breaks through to 'Who Wants to Be a Millionaire,'" tweets the RNC's Tim Miller. Congratulations, we guess.

After decades of listening to the bizarre anecdotes of Jeopardy! contestants, we'd submit that one game show contestant isn't necessarily the best focus group in the world, but hey, every voter, even those in syndication, counts.
