B - Have you heard this topic mentioned in the past two weeks? One ought to have, but I haven't.

G - What 1908 event was affected by this happenstance

1 - Taft election campaign
2 - First car driven across America
3 - Giants vs Cubs baseball
4 - Olympics Marathon.

B - Are you asking for "No, I haven't"? Otherwise, it's a reference to the Cubs' hopes crashing yet again.

G - Giants vs. Cubs baseball

No, but I'm guessing it had to do with:

G - What 1908 event was affected by this happenstance

3 - Giants vs Cubs baseball
-- In Iroquois society, leaders are encouraged to remember seven generations in the past and consider seven generations in the future when making decisions that affect the people.
-- America would be a better place if leaders would do more long-term thinking. -- Wilma Mankiller

I posted this already but my post got lost.

In Greyhounds they call Boner's "Lipsticking" so I am going to go out on a limb and say that Fred Merkle is a Greyhound.

He got his boner by driving across country in 1908.

Here is the story about Fred Merkle:

It sounds really peculiar nowadays. I am sure with the fans mobbing the field and a play which is "obviously" game-winning, the umps would rule differently, now.

Oh yes, I did see a story about this recently. Keith Olbermann reran a story he did about this 25 years ago, on the 75th anniversary.

I do remember Chris Chambliss fighting his way to home plate for his winning home rum back in the day (?1977 was it), and more people remembered Merkle then.
