FNGD Q5 FRIDAY OCTOBER 10, ,2008

#1 Post by etaoin22 » Fri Oct 10, 2008 9:31 pm

B - What Canadian holiday is it on this coming Monday?

G - What is the common Ontario "celebration" at this time.

1 - Buying winter boots
2 - Changing the car's tires for snow tires
3 - Watching the Leafs lose, on TV
4 - Closing up the summer cottage.

(only one BEST answer).

Thanksgiving.

I'll guess 2.

I wish our Thanksgiving were on a Monday. Having that weekend would make everything so much easier. When I get my own time machine, I'm going back to speak to the Pilgrims about that!

I am hosting Thanksgiving at our house this year. I am glad that I have over a month to prepare.

Thanksgiving.

Canadians do need another holiday in the winter, and we really miss the kind of "season" of holidays which the US has.

However:

In Ontario, now:

You can watch the Leafs lose anytime in the next six months.
And although evidently autumn is in the air, you will totally incompreshensibly believe that:
Winter is not going to follow.
So, no snow tires or boots yet. Do them AFTER the first snow, when everyone else is trying to do them at the same time.
But this is the traditional time for closing up the summer cottage for the winter, until next May. When winter will hopefully be over.

A month is better than a weekend. I used to be the designated Thanksgiving hostess, despite the fact that I was the only person at the table who had to work all day on Wednesday. Along about midnight on Wednesday night every year, I tended to get miffed about that.

I'm still the designated chef for the feast, but I can start cooking on Wednesday now.

We haven't hosted Thanksgiving in a long time, so I think that it will be fun.

We are going to make Simpson's Avatars for everyone who is coming to use as place settings.

It's going to be difficult to make them for the three people from New Zealand that we don't know.
