A "Chiffres" problem from "Des Chiffres et Des Lettres". Sent in by a "telespectatrice", this one on the show would be to do mentally ASAP>

(((540 X 14)/9 - 45) / 15) + 7

(((540 X 14)/9 - 45) / 15) + 7

60, I think. That was like sewing black on black. I don't want to do it again to double-check.

60 it is.

IF Flyboy were here, he would probably point out that the "easiest" way of doing this mentally is to run through the division by 15, first. And then the division by 9

Which leaves:

((36 X 14)/9 - 3) + 7

and then

(4 x 14) - 3 + 7

60.

Both Christophe and Olivier got it rather faster than I did, watching.

Because the only current game show I am watching reguiarly on TV is "Des Chiffres et Des Lettres", from France.

There must be some way to do this in one's head - I didn't.

I use pencil and paper to get 60.
