I'll say "all of the above"

Movies are my down fall.

BTW, if you wonder "why in Oklahoma?", it's because surfactants are extremely important in oil drilling, as well as washing up.

And on a totally unrelated note, my boss told me at my review that I need to take the surfactants course and I confirmed that they are not offering it on-site this year. So far the only place they offer it is Norman. Darn!

I don't doubt it. That may be why this course is offered there.

I will look into when the course is since I have been told I should take it.

Hope you don't mind, but since we have already met, I would be most interested in meeting Annie.

And you can tell her that.

:)

I would be so excited if you came down here!

Annie wants to meet you, too. She already considers you one of her best girlfriends, which puts you right up there with the women's basketball team.

Etaoin, you did a masterful job with your questions tonight! Every one was interesting in a different way, and most could be answered (if not correctly) with some kind of logical reasoning.

What fun! Thank you yet again.

(Snort.)

We care, because you care. That doesn't help us know more of the answers.

Perhaps we should itemize what we do know. For example, I know a bit about Bill James. :P
LOL - made me giggle.

I love that you can laugh about it as well.

There were Eight Men Out.

I could not think of a good numeric Q for Game of their own.,

My B team has 8 points, and G team 4

Since you did so well with players positions.....
short stop is 6?

who knew?

B - Aside from the 3 most famous names, namely WHO, WHAT, and I DONT KNOW, name one of the players in the classic Abbott and Costello skin, Who's on First?

G - Name another one.

Times have changed.

B - Kansas City Athletics shortstop Dagoberto "Bert" Campaneris, with the consent of management, missed all his team's three trips to California in the 1967 season. IIRC Kubiak played shortstop.

For what reason?

1 - Allergy to California bees
2 - Death Threats by a stalker
3 - Protesting Ronald Reagan
4 - Avoiding a paternity suit

G - He couldnt do the same thing for the 1968 season... Why? (mentioned earlier)

etaoin22 wrote:B - Walt Bond, a power-hitting reserve outfielder, won the first game of the season for one of the better teams in the American League, with a pinch-hit home run.

This team was at that time the northernmost major league team.

Which team?

G - Bond was unavailable down the amazing stretch drive of that team, having

1 - died of leukemia
2 - signed up as a Marine
3 - joined a Cistercian monastery
4 - had a sex-change operation.
Milwalkee Brewers

B Dennis Dale "Denny" McLain was one of the better pitching talents in the American League that year, combining with Lolich, Wilson and Sparma to form the four-man starting rotation of another very good team. That team and Minnesota just were edged out by Boston at the end of the season.

Which team?

G - However, McLain was unavailable for two weeks in September with a bad foot injury of uncertain cause. The best public guess by now of what happened, is

1 - Bad LSD trip
2 - Dropped 3 cases of Pepsi-Cola on it (his favorite beverage)
3 - Woke up with a kink in his leg (the story at the time)
4 - Stomped on by the boss of the local Mafia.
Someone did a QoD on this guy McLain - I think it was Detroit

I like 4 as the most fun answer.

The Mafia answer is almost too good to have been made up, so I'll go with that one.
Now, kay and I are thinking alike.

Maybe I am not whack, maybe I am sweet.

etaoin22 wrote:And I have a question for fun.

Q6 part 1

The old sportscaster Bill Stern was there for many famous firsts of the mcrophone, but wound up best known for

1 - Penchant for obviously unlikely baseball tall tales
2 - Messing up the name of President Herbert Hoover
3 - Being fired on air, by a network chief
4 - All of the above

Pt 2

Bill Stern was parodied as "Bill Kern" in a movie by what great Amerian film-maker? No mulltiple choices, for this one..
I like all of the above - what a guy!

Ken Burns
