Can't put this book down

I never, ever buy hardcover books unless they're on sale or on a "6 books free for joining the Doubleday Book Club!" but I was at Costco on Tuesday and just couldn't resist picking up Barbara Walters' book.

It's fascinating! I truly admire her guts in admitting how embarrassed and ashamed she was of her sister.

Her sister was what they then called retarded but would now likely be tagged as autistic. She also had a terrible stutter.

I doubt I will buy the book as I tend to get them from the library.

My biggest issue is why she chose to discuss her affair. It is the thing that has brought her the most aadvertising for the book. Would she have gotten the same press if she had kept that quiet?

She must have lead an interesting life, however.

Tell all books that reveal other people's secrets seem so unfair to me.

I do admire people who tell on themselves and don't get anything on others.

I bet there are many people who were and still are ashamed of siblings or even children who are not 'normal'. The more we can talk about that, the more inclusive and loving we can be.
