B - Tashkent, the city in which inexplicably (they say) the successor to Nehru, Lal Bahadur Shastri died, lies on this route to the West, named romantically by a 19'th century German.

G - If you aren't sure about Peking Duck, what sort of foodstuff is Bombay Duck? (aside from very smelly).....

The Silk Road

Some kind of salted fish. I've never encountered it. I think I'm happy about that.

The Silk Road

I equate smelly with fish. Can we be that generic?

B - Silk Road.

That dead professor guy would call this Orientalism, maybe.

G - Smelly fish.

Much more smelly than generic, but a fish neverthelese.

My wife born in Bombay likes it, her brother likes it a lot more.

15-31

I said Silk Road because it was the only thing I could think of - I thought I was wrong because I would have thought the term went back much farther then the 19th century.

I wouldn't know. We still have our 6-foot 240 pound "baby bird" at home.

But he works and pays rent, and helps Dad out with lifting and chores and stuff, so it's not so bad at all. Our granddaughter who lives with us doesn't always agree, as he loves picking on her (he's more of a big brother than uncle to her).
