FNGD Q5 DEMS AND REPS

#1 Post by etaoin22 » Fri Aug 29, 2008 9:39 pm

B - Which famous American writer wrote "Miami and the Siege of Chicago", about the Dem and Rep conventions of 1968?

(I can think of one wrong answer I bet someone gives...)

G - She received 151.95 votes in the roll call for selection of the Democratic Presidential nominee in 1972.

I'm trying to win Doc the bet. I'll guess Shel Silverstein.

G - She received 151.95 votes in the roll call for selection of the Democratic Presidential nominee in 1972.
I'll guess Shirley Chisholm.

No clue on the first one.

Shirley Chisholm - I'm old enough to remember this. First convention I ever watched was the 1960 Democratic convention - I was 15 and mesmerized. This year's was about as close to that one.

Mailer.

Not the Gonzo guy, not yet. Norman had only pretensions to gonzo.

Shirley Chisholm.

With Sprots added vote, I calculate a win of 0.31415926 points for the G side.
Thanks to the great state of Colorado...

LOL!

It's been fun!

I had one of the worst seats in the house last night, and I still had a great time.

Congratulations to the G team!

Kudos to our B team, too! We put up a valiant effort, but lost in a photo finish.

That's better than getting lost in a photo booth.

And you were there.

There will be hundreds of thousands (who werent) who will remember being there, but you really were there, and you can remember that all your life.

Yep, I really was.

I talked to one guy a while back who was too young to be present at Thomson's Shot Heard Round the World, but he still insisted he was. I think he had managed to conflate Gibson with Thomson. If everybody who said they were there in 1951 really were there, the stadium couldn't have held them all.
