I'll make a brand new start of it

#1 Post by jarnon » Thu Oct 10, 2013 9:12 pm

First, some personal history: In May 2004, I posted a message on a previous incarnation of the Bored with the title "Start spreading the news." It announced that I was chosen to be on Super Millionaire with Regis. Then a few days later, I posted a long message entitled "In old New York." It recounted my contestant experience, from getting the Call to failing to make it into the Hot Seat. It ended with: "Maybe someday, I'll get another chance. Look out for a message entitled 'I'll make a brand new start of it,' and then hopefully, 'King of the hill, top of the heap!'"

I'm sure you've caught on by now that finally,
Spoiler
I'm going to be a contestant again!!!!11
Taylor called me early this afternoon. I'll travel to NYC on Tuesday, and get to the studio first thing Wednesday morning. My episode will be taped sometime Wednesday, or possibly Thursday. This time, I don't have to recruit phone-a-friends, but I can invite friends to be in the studio audience. Any interested NYC area BBs, please send me a PM.

I feel very lucky, and a bit guilty, to be getting this second chance. But by the time my episode airs, it will be 10 years since Super Millionaire, so it's not too unreasonable.

No, I tried a Decades audition in Philly last month and failed miserably. They're looking for contestants who live and breathe their chosen decade.

I so admire your perseverance. I've lost mine. But you came back from a good interview followed by rejection to another good interview, just a few months later, followed by THE SHOW. That really gives some of us multi-passers with lots of sad cards heart.

At any rate, "advice you don't need" is that those question-writers from SNL seem to be going over the top to get people into the "classic millionnaire" round, in that many of their goofy-choice answers are just too goofy to be actual choices. I hope that helps you. It would help a lot also to know how much the Q was supposed to be worth ahead of time, so I hope you get to see the top-value categories on your "non-classic" round before they randomize them.
