#1 Post by BBTranscriptTeam » Fri Mar 10, 2017 7:45 am

Devin Landin
Crown Heights, NY

Devin's hoping to win a trip for his mom, who worked hard to raise three children. His dad was a casualty of war. If he wins the million he would make movies - he's a filmmaker.

$7000: When water is poured into a certain anise-flavored liqueur, it changes from clear to milky, a phenomenon known as what?
A - kahlua reaction
B - sake syndrome
C - ouzo effect
D - mezcal miracle

Devin talks through the choices:
Spoiler
kahlua tastes like coffee, mezcal is like tequila and sake is made from rice
.
Spoiler
Answer: C (ouzo effect)
$10,000: Despite releasing their seventh consecutive #1 album in 2016, who hasn't had a #1 single on Billboard's Hot 100 chart since 2007's "Stronger"?
A - Pink
B - Taylor Swift
C - Justin Bieber
D - Kanye West

Devin knows that
Spoiler
"Stronger" sampled a song by Daft Punk
.
Spoiler
Answer: D (Kanye West)
$20,000: Said to be the longest road in Europe at nearly 5,000 miles, the E40 connects Calais, France to Ridder, Kazakhstan, passing through all but which of these cities?
A - Aachen, Germany
B - Katowice, Poland
C - Kiev, Ukraine
D - Palermo, Italy

He was worried about this but then he said that
Spoiler
Palermo, Italy is in Sicily and he can't see any road going there
.
Spoiler
Answer: D (Palermo, Italy)
$30,000: Modern Library's list of the 100 Best Novels includes titles containing all but which of these names of body parts?
A - heart
B - head
C - arms
D - feet
Devin says
Spoiler
A Farewell to Arms is probably on the list, and so is Heart of Darkness. He doesn't think Happy Feet is on there
. He uses his 50:50.
50:50 results
B and D
Devin groans.
He decides to ask the audience.
ATA
Ask the Audience results:
A - %
B - 35%
C - %
D - 65%
Devin observes that 65 is more than 35 but he still can't think of a novel with "head" in it. The audience looks so smart and you don't get to the million without taking a risk.
Spoiler
Answer: D (feet)

Chris says that "Brideshead Revisited" was the title with "head".

$50,000: A UCSB study found that aside from a range of grays, dogs perceive the world only in shades of what two colors?
A - red and green
B - orange and red
C - blue and yellow
D - violet and green

Devin has a thought but isn't sure so he calls down his +1, Dyer Hepburn. Dyer is a dog person. He has a guess also. They both think it's
Spoiler

color blindness
. Dyer says it's not his money. At the risk of costing Devin $25,000, Dyer says he thought it was

his final answer.

10K: Pretty sure Swift has had hits. Bieber too. ATA.

Notice use of "their" in Q. Just saying. None of choices are group. They coulda used "her or his". But dint.

20K: Sicily is not en route.

50K: I have read/heard red & green. Throw 50/50 at it. Maybe I lose here. If not, +1.

I also mislead myself on the doggie Q, because my sister's pup used to pick out the red goodies. He had to be doing this by *smell*. On some level I knew it I knew it. Should have paid attention.

I knew a Jeopardy! Q tonight because of Dogs 101 (Dandie Dinmont), but it didn't help me here. Sayonara

They dint because that would be a free 50/50 as it would eliminate half the answers.

Oops! My bad. I read your sentence as if you had said, "They coulda used 'her' or 'his,'" rather than 'her or his.'

Estonut: I did put the quotes in the right place: "her or his". I usta be a programmer, ya know (well anyway now you do). All I can do is provide the grammer, so to speak; its up to the reader to read it right.

I know you did. "My bad" means "my mistake" and "as if you had said" means I (now) know you didn't say that, but that's how I initially read it.
