It was not immediately clear whether Mr. Trump has given final approval to the plan, but he has been said to have soured on Mr. Tillerson and in general is ready to make a change at the State Department. Mr. Tillerson was at the White House on Thursday morning, although he was not listed on the White House public schedule.
Asked by reporters on Thursday if he wanted Mr. Tillerson to stay on the job, Mr. Trump said only, “He’s here. Rex is here.”
Sarah Huckabee Sanders, the White House press secretary, later issued a statement. “There are no personnel announcements at this time,” she said. “Secretary Tillerson continues to lead the State Department and the entire cabinet is focused on completing this incredibly successful first year of President Trump’s administration.”

Tillerson was chummy with Putin in 2013, but their relationship has soured. On the flip side, Tillerson tried to solve the North Korea crisis with diplomacy (and Trump echoed that position during his Asia trip), and look how that turned out. Tillerson joins Sessions, Kelly, and other officials whose jobs are in jeopardy. There's no job security in this administration unless your name is Trump.

I've never really wanted to live in a banana republic, but I'm only a citizen of here.
It took forever & the threat of impeachment to get Nixon out. And by reports I've read/heard he was a raging alcoholic by the end of his days in office.
And what wasn't clear to me at the time but is now is that his own Republican party wanted him out.
The Repubs who want Trump, who is "only" nutso, not alcoholic out do not have the power in their own party these days.
What made anyone think that Mr. Birther-&-"Lock Her Up" would turn into a statesman upon election?
