There must be a William Holden or Capucine or Trevor Howard picture here.

And completing one of sss's partials...

45. VALIANT IS THE WORD FOR CARRIE = Ewan McGregor (64. TRAINSPOTTING) and Sissy Spacek (15. COAL MINER'S DAUGHTER)
Not "The Lion" but "Lion" with Dev Patel, Slumdog Millionaire.

This one's a bit of a trick on Frank's part.

There are two movies called Sing (20,000 Years in Sing Sing)

One starred Lorraine Bracco (Riding in Cars with Boys) and the other as I mentioned earlier has Mattew McConaughey (Wolf of Wall Street)

Frank said no film was matched with itself.

However, the original Sisters, the 1970's horror movie, co-starred Charles Durning (as a cop, not one of the sisters) and he was in Tootsie.

I'm thinking that I made a mistake when I matched Kevin Spacey from Moon to Seven earlier. There's probably another Spacey film somewhere that actually matches to both of them.

I was thinking we need a consolidation.

But I am tied up with meetings until 5 p.m. (who schedules a meeting to go until 5 p.m. in Philadelphia on the Friday of Super Bowl weekend? ) and then we have some house stuff to get done.

If we don't have a consolidation by, say, 8 p.m., I can do one.

I haven't been any help so far, but I think I understand the Tangredi even though nobody's explicitly defined it. Here are some partials:

51. THE TRUTH ABOUT CATS + DOGS = Truth + Cats & Dogs

(SSS already suggested the next two)

18. JULIE & JULIA = Julie + Julia

56. THE WOLF OF WALL STREET = Wolf + Wall Street

Happy to oblige. There are three cases where none of the answers suggested for the movie are correct. One has a single answer with a question mark. The others have alternates but do not include the correct answer.

Since there are legit alternates, do you want me to identify the matches that weren't what I had in mind?
mellytu74 wrote:Game #177: Now Playing at the Multiplex

Identify the 90 movies in the clues below. (Every other clue is a quotation.) Then, match them into 44 triples and one group of four according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself.

Eighteen movies will be used twice, seven movies will be used three times, two movies will be used four times, and two movies will be used five times. No movie can be matched with itself.

I’ve tried my damnedest to avoid alternate matches, but we all know how that usually turns out.

Oh, sure. I am having too much fun with this but I still want to know what they are. We will go over 44 legit matches, I suspect.

We can switch Amy Adams to Julie and Julia, which is what I suspect her full title was supposed to be (upon further review)

18. JULIE & JULIA = Julie (???) + Julia (Vanessa Redgrave 22. BLOW UP).

Julie has Doris Day, Louis Jourdan, Barry Sullivan and, I think, Frank Lovejoy.

56. THE WOLF OF WALL STREET = Wolf + Wall Street.

Wolf is Jack Nicholson, Michelle Pfeiffer. sss mentioned the Martin Sheen connection. He was in Spawn and Wall Street, so we need a Martin Sheen movie.

The Letter has to be here for someone other than Bette Davis, because there are other Davis movies on the list -- Herbert Marshall, Gail Sondergaard
