RIP John Mahoney
Actor best known for playing Frasier's father on Frasier. He appeared in a wide variety of TV shows and movies as well.
Age 77.

Sad to read about this. I watched all of the original airings of "Frasier," and then watched the series a second time on DVD with my mom. He was one of those understated actors and had a very distinct voice.
When the series was in its original run, I read that John was born in England and had actually helped Jane Leeves with her Manchester accent, as that's where he had grown up.

He was younger than I thought.
77 minus about 24 years since Frasier started puts him about 53. Dang, I am 51 1/2. I am now the age of crochety old guys on TV. This makes me feel really old.
