Song #39 is actually titled "What Is A Youth", so there's the "youth" we need for the Debbie Gibson match.

The group for song #90 is Crazy Elephant.

A couple of partials:

Song #120 is actually called "I Wanna Be Your Man" & that gives us: 120. I WANNA BE YOUR Man + 88. Friend & LOVER = 16. PRINCE

Also, there's: 102. GOLDEN Earring + 89. The Living YEARS = 46. DAVID BOWIE

17.You Should be DANCING + 6. QUEEN = 54. ABBA

Also, there's GOT to be an alternate artist named Dick, so we can have

DICK + 18. Living IN A BOX = 105. The Lonely Island

This made me think of "Moby Dick" by Led Zeppelin, but it's an instrumental.

"New Age Girl" by Deadeye Dick would've been the perfect song to include to complete that partial. I seem to remember when I did my penis euphemism themed LSWE game that I noted there was a real dearth of artists named Dick...

There's also Magic Dick from J. Geils Band, but I don't know of any solo work from him.

I just looked back at some of the previously-identified matches and found that we had matches using BABY blue and BLUE oyster cult, so it will probably require a slightly-less difficult to find artist with the first name of Dick. Dick Dale? Dick Smothers?

I don't think the requirement is anything more than one song has to get its first part from an artist and second half from a title, and then the second song has to be the reverse... so Dick as first or last name would be irrelevant. Looking up Dicks who have songs on the main Billboard charts (according to my source I use for LSWE), almost all of them are very obscure fringe artists from the 50's and 60's (Not a surprise given that the nickname has fallen out of favor... and I had to laugh that there is a Dick Hyman). I think we should just give up looking for Dick....

We can finish up Bobby Vinton this way ….

26. MR. Big + 113. LONELY

BUT, we've used #26 for Billy Joel's Big Shot. :(

Turns out there IS a G at the end

17. You Should be DANCING + 79. in the Dark and 10. HUNGRY Eyes + 58. HEART = 28. Bruce Springsteen

That screws up the ABBA match but I find it odd that Orchestral Manuevers in the Dark wouldn't be here for this song..

I think I incorporated all the complete and partial matches that have been suggested so far. lb, I went back and deleted the code marks for partial matches, because we're finding that some of them aren't right, and that might throw people off. So if I did it right (big if) the only items that should be marked with a *, ^, or ~ are the ones that are tied to complete matches. I also added and marked one more complete match involving the Temptations (Psychedelic Shack and Get Ready.)

Game #182: Title and Artist (and Vice Versa)

Identify the 120 songs below. Then, match them into 35 groups of five according to a Tangredi, or principle you must discover for yourself. 45 songs will be used twice, each time in a different capacity. Five songs will be used three times, each time in a different capacity. (There are only three possible capacities in which a song may be used.)

No song will be matched with itself.

This game will require a very precise following of the rules, once you figure out what the rules are.

Let’s kick things off with the song everyone has been waiting for –

I apologize for the Billy Joel/Bobby Vinton situation. Do you want me to tell you which of the two matches I intended, or let it work itself out?

I will confirm that both Joel and Vinton are represented as artists.
mrkelley23 wrote:I think I incorporated all the complete and partial matches that have been suggested so far. lb, I went back and deleted the code marks for partial matches, because we're finding that some of them aren't right, and that might throw people off.
