I answered this earlier as Barbra Streisand, who I see has also been given as the answer in another entry. But unless I'm reading this wrong somehow, this here HAS to be Barbra..Oscar for Funny Girl (tied with Hepburn that year, they always show the clip where she looks at the Oscar and says "Hello, gorgeous!"), Billboard number ones include The Way We Were, Evergreen, and Woman in Love, as well as number one duets with Neil Diamond and Donna Summer.
T-Bone....

Streisand is already there -- she's definitely and confirmed as the answer to #82. We are looking for a third actress.

[82. Her first non-musical film was a romantic comedy that on Broadway had starred Diana Sands.

BARBRA STREISAND played the role of the prostitute opposite George Segal in The Owl and the Pussycat. Sands played the role on Broadway]

Understood now lol. I really don't think Hudson ever hit number one. If I'm right about that, then the only possibilities I can think of are DIANA ROSS (lots of #1's, but not sure about an Oscar) and SHIRLEY JONES (won an Oscar for sure but only qualifies as having a Number 1 if you count The Partridge Family, on whose Number 1 record "I Think I Love You" she sang on. She IS listed on the label of the record along with David Cassidy).
SHIRLEY JONES sounds good for this. Because Jennifer Husdon's hit records have been in R&B

This couldn't be referring to MYRNA LOY'S work with UNESCO, could it?

I misread the clue for 56 and suggested George Chakiris, but he was never in a STAGE version of a Sondheim musical that I"m aware of. That means Melly's suggestion of Gene Nelson must be right, considering Frank's recent comments.

20. In 2013, she was the highest-paid actress over 40 in Hollywood; five years later, she announced her retirement from acting.
I'm pretty sure the actress is JENNIFER ANISTON, but I have not heard that she has retired.

35. “I mean, what's wrong with taking him on any one of the million f**king felonies that you've seen him do, or I've seen him do? I mean, I mean, he murdered somebody, right? LEONARDO DICAPRIO

61. “Thanks for finding my daughter's killer, Sean. If only you'd been a little faster.”
SEAN PENN

65. “Relatively soon, I will die. Maybe in twenty years, maybe tomorrow, it doesn't matter. Once I am dead and everyone who knew me dies too, it will be as though I never existed. What difference has my life made to anyone? None that I can think of. None at all.”
JACK NICHOLSON

68. This 84 year-old character actor was recently the victim of an Internet celebrity death hoax.
M. EMMET WALSH

73. “I don't know why I wandered out to this part of Texas drunk, and you took me in and pitied me and helped me to straighten out, marry me. Why? Why did that happen? ROBERT DUVALL

77. “Man who argue with cow on wall is like train without wheels: very soon get nowhere.”
PETER SELLERS

81. “Look at this! My first day as a woman and I'm getting hot flashes!”
ROBIN WILLIAMS? DUSTIN HOFFMAN?
This sounds like a ROBIN WILLIAMS ad-lib, and didn't Mrs. Doubtfire accidentally set herself on fire?

93. “You gotta have two things to win. You gotta have brains and you gotta have balls. Now, you got too much of one and not enough of the other.”
PAUL NEWMAN

A couple:

7. “The only reason people are nice to me is because I have more money than God.”

This sounds like SHIRLEY MACLAINE in Steel Magnolias.

24. At the age of 43, this actress committed suicide by jumping out of the window of her fifth floor apartment in Pittsburgh.

I looked it up because it was nagging me.

98. He was the hero of Hitchcock’s third talkie and the villain of Hitchcock’s second American film.

I am thinking this is HERBERT MARSHALL, the bad guy in Foreign Correspondent.

71. “You are an old man who thinks in terms of nations and peoples. There are no nations. There are no peoples. There are no Russians. There are no Arabs. There are no Third Worlds. There is no West. NED BEATTY in Network. This is the part that leads up to "There's only IBM and AT&T and Union Carbide, etc."

94. She made twelve films opposite the same leading man, including two for which she won the Oscar.

OK - I got nothing here.

Going with the earlier idea of breaking up names maybe, I WAS thinking of someone who has a lot of Oscar noms and worked with the same actors (ie Edith Head and Newman/Redford). BUT it says “opposite,” which puts the kibosh on that idea.

The actresses who made that many with the same actor - ie Myrna Loy/WIlliams Powell - either didn’t win or weren’t even nominated. OR in the case of Bette Davis/George Brent, he wasn’t in both movies.

Could we be looking at short films?

It's nothing as complicated at that. The actress did win the Oscar for Best Actress. In two films for which she won the Oscar, she played opposite the same leading man. She made a total of 12 films opposite that leading man. All of these statements are true and there is no trickery involved in any of them.

AND we know it's not Katharine Hepburn because only one of her Oscars was opposite Spencer Tracy and she's the correct answer to another question.

AND we know it's not Meryl Streep because #5 is definitely her in Devil Wore Prada.

Are we looking for an Oscar-winning actress who won an Oscar IN a movie?

I'm referring to an Oscar she won in real life. Any Oscars she may or may not have won IN a movie are irrelevant to the question.

I'm referring to an Oscar she won in real life. Any Oscars she may or may not have won IN a movie are irrelevant to the question.
This would indicate that the actress won an Oscar for producing a movie in which she appeared (Emma Thompson won a writing Oscar but she doesn't fit the clue and honorary Oscars aren't awarded for any particular film).

I'm wondering if this could somehow apply to Diane Keaton. She did appear opposite Woody Allen in a bunch of movies.

This person won her Oscar for acting and for nothing else. I'm trying to give you a major hint here.

This is JANET GAYNOR. She won an Oscar for her appearance in three movies in the same year (the rules were different back then), two of them (Seventh Heaven and Street Angel) opposite Charles Farrell, with whom she appeared a number of times.

smdh....

Nice job, sss.

It's funny - I almost wrote something about Vicky Lester when i was discussing Oscar IN a movie but didn't because actresses playing Vicky Lester didn't win the Oscar.

At least not for playing Vicky Lester. :/
