Registration Change

#1 Post by tubadave » Tue Oct 30, 2007 10:30 am

It really has a minimal effect on those who are already here (other than creating MM's, of course) but I wanted to make everyone aware that I just changed the Bored registration process to include email activation.

Long story short, anyone who registers a new account has to give a legit email address. Once they've registered, they receive an email with an activation link. Clicking on that link allows them to activate their account and start posting.

Hopefully, that will slow the p0rn spammers down a bit until I can get some better security measures in place. I'll be working on it later today, in fact.

If anyone has any questions about any of this, don't hesitate to ask.

It's all his fault. That'll be $10.

Thanks, TD.
Enough already. It's my fault! Get over it!

That'll be $10, please.

Thanks, Dave.

Even though I missed our latest visitor while I was having lunch.

Will we be able to use the same email account for more than one account? (For Creating Merry Men?)

I believe so. The Bored simply needs a valid address for you to receive the activation link; it's not checking for the uniqueness of that address.

Unfortunately, it is checking the uniqueness of the address you enter, so registering Merry Men is going to be a bit complicated for the moment.

And before anyone thinks of it, the uniqueness of the address is verified even after registration as well....if you sign up with one email address, and then try to change it later, what you change it to must be unique as well.

Once I get a few modifications to the web site's code in place to block spam bots (MVLease was talking about them in a different thread) I'll turn the email activation feature back off so that everyone (i.e. primarily lb13 and mini) can get back to their anonymous mischief again. :D

In the mean time, bear with me while I get this sorted out.

22 days and counting until the annual parade! I'm sure you can work within that window... :P

Jasper, is that your very own picture? You are very handsome.

I'm pretty sure that's a photo from Jasper's baby book.

I don't think I have any baby pictures. My mom said it's because I was too wiggly and too fast ever to stay in the frame of a photograph.

I spent a lot of time tonight trying to update some software on my laptop, though, so I can download some photos of Lizbit before she gets way past puppyhood.

I just cut another one off at the pass. This one didn't even hide the fact in his profile that he was into porn.

So much for the email reply requirement stemming the tide of showtimeness....

Man--I never got around to making Merry Men! Of course, I'm always gone at Thanksgiving, so I never get to join the parade.

I've probably changed my avatar more times than anyone but uly, so that has satisfied my craving for playing dress-up...

It's one of Jasper's kitten Pictures for Halloween. Jasper now weighs close to 20 pounds. The girls say that he is fat. I say that he is big boned. Emma always replies, "then he's got a big bone in his butt."

He likes to sit on high narrow ledges. One of these days I am going to get a picture of him sitting on a ledge with all of his fat hanging down.

You were around the year Eyegor couldn't attend.

Good thing too or else it would have been a parade of lb's merry men....

You say that like it's a bad thing! You should be used to talking to yourself by now! (I was going to say "playing with yourself," but it just seemed so wrong in light of our recent visitors....) :P :P :P :P :P :P

I can't keep up a solo MM parade more than about 15 or 20 posts.... :P

I did decide to get in the spirit and dress up for Halloween, though....

If Mr. Clean would've been sitting behind Regis all night, the light off his head would have blinded everyone....

Oh wait, that didn't happen with AD....
