Sheesh. This question will not count in the scoring, not that it will affect the scores a whole lot.

Please accept my apologies, guilt, stupidity, and insufficient thought processes. SOX should have been meister.
You are forgiven any of those things, but let's go with honest mistake.

Just think, if you hadn't volunteered, most of us would be going to bed already!

Oh, absolutely. I see an hypothesis being proposed here that will require us to haul in the footwear guy to settle.
Well, then

I've golfed with Hairy Handhauser

he could really grip those clubs

he'd wander off every few holes

come back with a smile on his face

I said "that will cost you a few strokes"

he said "too late, Pat"
Golf rocks.

Figures. The only one I got right won't count. Sigh.

That's OK, Silver. I knew who you meant.

Um, if SOX was meister, I wouldn't play. Better every question a mistake than SOX asking anything!

I wouldn't say it had little in common because I knew who you meant. I even looked him up to make sure that you weren't going for some variation that he had used.
AJ's right. I knew which person you meant. I picked the oldest movie I could think of that would have needed special effects.

I'm sorry, it's late and my eyes are tired. You had to pet your teacher's ass, and STILL got assigned extra homework?....

Rather than reproduce the 40 or so names on the list, here's a link to IMDB's Alan Smithee page. Many of the names are well-known, others far less so. The most frequent answer, Martin Scorsese, is not among them.

http://www.imdb.com/find?s=all&q=Alan+Smithee

I do not know where "Harry Handhauser" came from, but that's indeed what I typed on my question sheet. Ray Harryhausen was the master of effects, whose creations included:

Clash of the Titans
Sinbad and the Eye of the Tiger
The Golden Voyage of Sinbad
The Valley of Gwangi
One Million Years B.C.
First Men in the Moon
Jason and the Argonauts
Mysterious Island
The 3 Worlds of Gulliver
20 Million Miles to Earth
It Came from Beneath the Sea

In spite of what I said earlier, I am going to give T-bone credit for Jason and the Argonauts. I yam the meister; I can change my mind. In fact, I'm giving double points for not only giving a correct answer, but for figuring out the question I really meant to ask.

Believe me, it may as well have been "name a director" and "name a movie," kinda like "pick a number between 1 and 6,347"...

Ha! Who's Teacher's Pet now?

Waitamminit. Let me say it like Edward G Robinson.

Who's Teacher's Pet now, see?

I dunno why. It just felt like something that should be done with Edward G. Robinson's voice.
