Anyone Can Play

#1 Post by Bob Juch » Tue May 20, 2008 10:39 am

I'm going to be on Shokus Internet Radio's "Anyone Can Play" starting tonight at 6 PM PDT, 9 PM EDT. The show will be repeated for a week. On Sunday the time will be Noon PDT, 3 PM EDT.

Of course I can't tell you much yet, but I played again a certain high school fresh(wo)man who is an undefeated "Jeopardy!" champion.

The URL is http://www.shokusradio.com. (WARNING: Audio on that page so turn off your speakers if you're at work!)

Yes, he will be playing against Maddie.

Maddie will also be playing in their Teen Tournament which will air the second week of June.

It's 9PM eastern, Peacock. They do replay it throughout the week as well.
I don't think you've missed it.

Speaking of J!

It's too bad that she doesn't have a husband so that she can play "The Newlywed Game."

Outstanding first round, you two! :)
Spoiler
Maddie and Bob tied in the regular play, so it went to a silly tie-breaker question, which went to Bob.

I'm sure BBs will want to play along with this question, so here it is:

In July 2007, the town of Durango, Mexico set the Guiness World Record for making the world's largest bowl of soup. How much soup was this?
Spoiler
Maddie had to guess first; her answer was 10,000 gallons.

Bob just had to choose "higher" or "lower". He choose "lower", adding a just-for-fun estimate of 1,500 gallons.

Correct answer was 1,413 gallons.

Good job, Maddie. It was a blast to listen to Stu and the gang marvel at your ability to answer a wide variety of questions. They just don't know you like we do.

Spoiler
The funny thing is that the reason why she knows about Barbara Stanwyck is because my Dad had a huge crush on her. He liked her use of the whip on The Big Valley. Naturally we used to tease him about it at every opportunity.

He shouldn't be admitting things like that in front of his granddaughter! :P

Well done Maddie! Oh, and Bob too :)

So "Juch" is pronounced "Yook?" Or even "Uke" like a ukulele!

Fortunately Maddie didn't get "suck-hard!"

I met someone with the unusual surname "Springob" today. I (and my colleague) kept wanting to put an extra "b" in there and call him "Mr. Springbob" -- like Spongebob! I have a feeling he gets called Springbob a lot.

They said that Maddie is 15, but she is 14.

Our last name is pronounded Sue-shard, but as long as they don't say Suck-hard, we usually don't correct people.

I think she's a little too old for that. But if she has a younger sister...

That was a great match!

Well done, you two!

I agree that it was a silly tiebreaker.
