TV show: High Potential

#1 Post by Ritterskoop » Sat Jan 18, 2025 10:08 pm

Guys, I am really digging a new ABC show (well, new this season) called High Potential. People who like Elsebeth seem to like this one, too, though it's not the howdunnit format like Columbo (like Elsbeth is).

It's based on a French show, and apparently there are several copies, but I have never seen any of them.

I like the leads and all the regulars, and even a couple of frequent guests. The bodies are not too gross, and sometimes there's not a body.

The premise is that the janitor lady at the police department can see connections among things that the rest of them can't, because she knows a lot of obscure facts about tides and sunsets and chemistry and everything. She doesn't sleep well, and watches a lot of documentaries, and I guess everything sticks.

Her family is cool, even her kids, but they don't overuse them.

I have no idea how the ratings are doing or if it will get picked up for Season 2, but there is a background mystery that a showrunner promises will be mostly resolved in Season 1, so that's promising.

I watched it on Hulu until I paused that subscription; it's on regular ABC for those who still use broadcast options.
