Transcript 02/07/08 - Chris Bowker & Elizabeth Alexander
Wedding Week
Chris Bowker & Elizabeth Alexander (carryovers)
Yorkville, IL
Chris and Elizabeth are crazy about each other and aren't shy about displaying their affection. They've given their home a name.
Chris: Well, it's a nice, quaint, little, small house, so we call it the Love Shack.
Meredith: The Loooove Shack!
Elizabeth: No! Christopher calls it the Love Shack. I don't call it the Love Shack.
Meredith: What do you call it?
Elizabeth: It's just our home.
$25,000
Which of the following is made by a zymurgist?
A: Steel B: Explosives
C: Glass D: Beer
Chris has no idea. Elizabeth thinks, for Latin words, they should call Donny.
Chris: I know it's probably not beer, because those are like brewers.
PAF: Chris and Elizabeth calls Donny.
Donny: Can you spell the merchant?
Elizabeth: z y m u r g i s t - zymurgist.
Chris: 15 seconds.
Elizabeth: Steel, glass, explosives, beer. 10 seconds.
Donny: Uh, I don't--what's made by a blind merchant?
Elizabeth: Zymurgist! z y m u r g i s t.
50/50 leaves A & D.
Chris and Elizabeth walk away with $16,000 and a party bus.
Answers:

I guess Donny misheard "zymurgist" for "blind merchant" - it's the only explanation. As for me, I'd be PAFing this one.BBTranscriptTeam wrote:$25,000

Agreed. I had to replay the tape and listen carefully to realize that Donny had said "merchant" after the first reading of the question. And since Elizabeth didn't catch that and didn't specifically correct him by saying "NOT merchant," he didn't let that thought go.earendel wrote:I guess Donny misheard "zymurgist" for "blind merchant" - it's the only explanation. <sigh>
Would it be insensitive to refer to botched PAF communications as Blind Merchants, from now on?

Here are two articles about Chris and Elizabeth's appearance. Neither mention the Blind Merchant.

An easy google so poor PAF preparation costs them at least 9K and maybe more.
Wouldn't have burned the 50/50 and they would gain the STQ so perhaps they could have won 50K or more.
Costly indeed.
