The problem, then, is that such calls do not address an opposition audience so much as they signal virtue. They talk past those who need convincing. They ignore actual facts and counterargument. And they are irreparably smug.

I'm grateful to Barbara. She was in the audience with a group of Jipsters when I ran the table at Play It! I used ATA on the 500,000 point question, and I'm convinced her presence is the reason there was a discernable bump for the correct answer. --Bob
